This is an enormous chain and I’m sorry, but I need to say this:
The laws in the Old Testament were set forth by god as the rules the Hebrews needed to follow in order to be righteous, to atone for the sin of Adam and Eve and to be able to get into Heaven. That is also why they were required to make sacrifices, because it was part of the appeasement for Original Sin.
According to Christian theology, when Jesus came from Heaven, it was for the express purpose of sacrificing himself on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. His sacrifice was supposed to be the ultimate act that would free us from the former laws and regulations and allow us to enter Heaven by acting in his image. That is why he said “it is finished” when he died on the cross. That is why Christians don’t have to circumcise their sons (god’s covenant with Jacob), that is why they don’t have to perform animal sacrifice, or grow out their forelocks, or follow any of the other laws of Leviticus.
When you quote Leviticus as god’s law and say they are rules we must follow because they are what god or Jesus wants us to do, what you are really saying, as a Christian, is that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was invalid. He died in vain because you believe we are still beholden to the old laws. That is what you, a self-professed good Christian, are saying to your god and his son, that their plan for your salvation wasn’t good enough for you.
So maybe actually read the thing before you start quoting it, because the implications of your actions go a lot deeper than you think.
/An atheist who understands Christian theology better than Bible-thumpers do.

boom
whoa.
Damn.
I’m going to fucking memorize this shit.
I will forever perform this monlogoue when people start sprouting religious shit
Very good except for one small thing; Judaism does not say that there is an afterlife. We had to atone for the sins to be righteous to get into the promised land, which is usually interpreted as Israel.

“Crying doesn’t mean you’re weak… it just means you’ve been strong for too long.” You are not less than anyone else because of your hurt - you are just as important and wonderful as all of us. Being strong doesn’t mean never crying, never showing emotion or vulnerability. You are pushing on, beautiful and so amazing, even if you don’t think so - and I hope you can see that some day, if you don’t already.
Thanks for your nearly-perfect timing. Around 4:30 AM would’ve been better, but it still helps.

new ring sizes
So I’ve been weaving chain mail for several months, but I had always had just one size of rings to work with at a time. I started out with a few 16 gauge 1/4” rings, and then I got a bunch of 18 gauge /16” rings. About a week ago, I got a bunch of rings in all sorts of sizes (but all 16 and 18 gauge). Now I can experiment and try out a whole smattering of weaves I hadn’t been able to bother with previously, both because the rings have different aspect ratios and because some weaves require multiple sizes. This is incredibly fun.
Tedious test is tedious
So there’s a mathematics placement exam. It is supposed to give me an idea of which mathematics courses I should sign up to take. The score doesn’t actually affect anything. The questions are tedious. The format (online, one question at a time) makes it take a while. Also, if I submit a wrong answer, it tells me that I goofed and it lets me fix my mistake (although I think I can only goof a certain number of times per problem). I remember all these questions from last year’s class, and they aren’t any more interesting this time around. I miss the questions at HMNT which asked about how many ways there were to kill giant head crabs, given certain rules about when I could attack for massive damage. I also miss the questions about Mario and StarCraft they asked at HMNT. Actually, HMNT is kinda just awesome and I wish I were taking that rather than this test. Can’t I just sign up for the hard courses now and skip the test, regardless of how many times I get a question wrong?
Addendum: Since I’m specifically allowed to leave my answer unsimplified and, I am also allowed to give a decimal approximation, I decided that I am allowed to type the following into Wolfram|Alpha and then use the decimal approximation as an answer to one problem: “integral from 0 to .25pi of 2cos(x)-2sin(x) + integral from .25pi to .8 pi of 2sin(x)-2cos(x)”
Aaaaahhhh the frame rate aaaaaahhhhh
So I was listening to http://disco-dragons.tumblr.com/post/23849959811/nintendocompositions-the-legend-of-zelda and then scrolled up and saw this as the next thing. The way many of them lined up with the music was uncanny.

Man, this cutie is so high on my celebrity crush list. Did you know Daniel Radcliff knows all the words to Tom Lehrer’s “The Elements”? *swoon!*
So does Graham Stark from LoadingReadyRun. (I believe I have shown you many of their videos.) So do I. Have I mentioned that I learn lyrics to songs?
